Initially formed by Ned Nestorovic and spun out of the engineering staffs of Hughes Aircraft and several local companies, SPA was mostly a contract optical/mechanical design and analysis firm. Soon many of our clients began asking us for samples and prototypes of our designs. We added assembly and testing capability over the years.
Since then, Seattle Photonics has expanded and worked closely with a small but dynamic group to fill a few other needs within the optical systems design and analysis community, including: mechanical engineering, optical lab technicians, analytical optical modeling as well as electrical engineering design and prototyping. To support the growing prototyping and manufacturing side of the business, SPA moved into a larger facility and added our own machine shop and expanded lab space in 2013. Our machinists bring over 40 years of experience in high precision metal and plastic fabrication.
